[Milliways]: Something REALLY new

Orpheus pauses outside his door and turns to smile at Steve.

"Well? You've got the key."

Orpheus smiles as well. "I wasn't jealous, lovely. I just wondered. You're free to see whoever you like."

Steve picks at the coverlet. He'd be lying if he said there's no one else he'd like to see--but what he told Sallie so long ago is still true.

He doesn't feel this way about anybody else.

"I'm not going to pay for it," is all he says.

"You wouldn't have to, lovely."

Orpheus is so far removed from whatever Steve is feeling here. He's felt out of touch with his partners for a very long time, now, though.

Steve nods, and then curls up against Orpheus again.

"I just want you. You're all I want. I don't care who else you're with, I really don't, but you're the only one I want."

"If you're sure," Orpheus says, sliding an arm around him.

Steve nods. "I've had a lot of time to think about it," he says with a small, wry smile.

[ooc: Sleeps time.]

"You've also had a lot of time alone," Orpheus points out.

[ooc: Good night!]

"That's given me a lot of time to think about what I want."

"I'm flattered," Orpheus says softly.

"I kind of like you," Steve says softly. "I don't know how to be more obvious about it."

"Really? Because what I've seen would suggest you more than kind of like me," Orpheus teases gently.

Steve brushes the tip of Orpheus's nose with a fingertip and just smiles.

Orpheus smiles, wrinkling his nose. "I kind of like you too, kid."

Well, Steve has to kiss him for that.

Orpheus is totally okay with that.
