[Milliways]: Reunion

Orpheus had dutifully eaten, if not as much as Steve wanted him to, at least enough to be able to say he was taking care of himself.

And after...well, upstairs had seemed like a good idea. Especially good considering this was the first time it was Orpheus who hadn't seen Steve in over a month rather than the other way around. He tugs Steve into the room with a smile, not willing to let go of him even for a second.

Steve strokes his hair slowly, gently scraping Orpheus's scalp with his nails.

"I think we have to really want to and I think we have to do everything we can to make it happen, but if we do, then yeah. We will be. We'll be better than okay. We'll be ... amazing."

Orpheus hums in contentment. "You think so, huh?"

"Yup." He gently scratches the back of Orpheus's neck. "Remember who you're talking to, here. I'm a symbol of hope."

"Yeah," Orpheus says softly. "You really are."

Steve chuckles. His fingers gently brush down Orpheus's spine.

He says quietly, "Hey. Remember when I said I don't care if you sleep with other people?"

[golden_lyre]

"Yeah?" Orpheus says, pushing himself up a bit to look at Steve.

His gaze meets Orpheus's. "I think I care. In fact, I'm pretty sure I do."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus smiles and kisses him.

"I wasn't planning on doing it anymore."

Steve's responding smile is beautiful. He wraps his arms around Orpheus and kisses him happily.

Orpheus kisses him back, laughing against his lips.

"I didn't want to ask, I really didn't, but I'm so glad you want to anyway."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus laughs softly. "Of course. When I'm with someone seriously...that's it for me."

Steve kisses him again, still smiling. "We really are serious."

"Yeah, I guess we are," Orpheus says thoughtfully.

Steve touches Orpheus's chest. "This has been a hell of a day," he says softly.

[golden_lyre]

"It has," Orpheus murmurs. "How are you doing?"

"Not knocked off my foundations," Steve says. "Kind of the opposite."

[golden_lyre]

"I'm glad," Orpheus says quietly, leaning in to kiss him softly.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Will you say you're mine?" Steve whispers into the kiss. "Just say, 'Steve, I'm yours'?"

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus hesitates a moment. This is where things get complicated for him.

"I can say that I give you everything that is mine to give," he says quietly. "Is that enough?"

Steve's smile fades a little, but he whispers, "I'll take that," and kisses Orpheus tenderly.

[golden_lyre]

Part of him will always belong to Eurydice, as far as he's concerned, but he will give what he can.

He cups a hand around Steve's cheek as he returns the kiss.

Steve nuzzles his cheek against Orpheus's hand.

"I'm yours," he says, though the question wasn't asked.

Orpheus smiles at that and kisses Steve's forehead, almost like a blessing.

Steve closes his eyes as Orpheus kisses him.
