Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

"Definitely. What are you in the mood for, honey?"

"Greek?" Orpheus suggests faintly. He wants something comforting.

"I know a place," Steve says and turns a corner, putting the worst of the destruction behind them.

Orpheus leans against him as they walk. After a moment he begins to hum softly. It's tentative and a little worn out, but he puts as much hope as he can feel into it.

It's more than he would have thought, considering.

Steve puts an arm around him and kisses his hair.

Orpheus lets out another slow breath, relaxing against him.

"Beautiful."

Steve just smiles, not wanting to tease him.

Orpheus curls an arm around Steve's waist and kisses Steve's cheek.

Steve puts an arm around him and pulls him a little closer as they walk.

Orpheus smiles, contented and relaxed. He hadn't realized just how much he was already looking forward to this being his home.

"I hope you'll like this place," Steve says as he pushes open the door to a blue-and-white restaurant. "The owners is third-generation Greek."

The air smells of lamb and olive oil

"I'm sure it's fantastic," Orpheus says as he steps inside. "It's New York."

Steve grins at that, his hand moving to the small of Orpheus's back again. "Do you want to stay or get take-out, like we were thinking?"

It's a nice interior, lots of murals of Athens on the walls and small tables scattered throughout.

"Let's get takeout," Orpheus says, turning to him with a smile. "I just want to go home."

"Okay." He asks the hostess how they do takeout, and she hands them a menu and leaves them to decide.

"You know what's best," he says, giving the menu to Orpheus.

"All up to me, hm?" Orpheus says with a laugh, flipping through the menu.

"You've never steered me wrong."

[golden_lyre]

"I'll try to live up to that," he says, and heads to the hostess to place their order.

Steve watches him go, his chin on his hands.

Orpheus comes back with a smile and takes a seat to wait. "I hope I ordered enough," he teases.

"What did you order? Or is it a surprise?" He puts his hand on Orpheus's knee.

He chuckles, leaning against Steve a little. "Would you like it to be a surprise?"

"Yes," Steve says softly. "Surprise me."

He strokes Orpheus's knee slowly. "I want you to do more than that tonight."

Smiling, Orpheus watches his hand. "Oh?"

"Yes." He traces circles on Orpheus's knee. "I think we both need a little... something extra. I need to give up a little control and I want you to take it." He looks at Orpheus, swallows hard, and then looks away.
