[Milliways]: An American in Paris

Orpheus' flat in Paris is above a little boulangerie in the Latin Quarter, not too terribly far from Notre Dame. It's...very small, and that isn't helped by the musical instruments and half-finished, scribbled sheet music that are littered around the place. Everything is clean, just cluttered. It's a bit stuffy as well, though Orpheus has all his windows open.

As they step into the living room, Orpheus turns to Steve with a smile. "Bienvenue à Paris," he says.

"No," Orpheus says. "I just wanted one like that."

"Okay." He's still smiling when he comes back to Orpheus and takes his hands.

Orpheus kisses him and puts his camera away, tilting his head in the direction of one corner of the lobby. "Come on, Galahad. Chocolate."

"Tell me what's good," he says as they walk to the shop.

[golden_lyre]

"Everything is good," Orpheus says, holding the door for Steve. "But we are absolutely getting some macarons."

Steve goes straight to the display case to find the macarons. "They look delicious."

"They are amazing," Orpheus says as one of the shopgirls comes over to help them. He asks her for a dozen assorted in French, and she smiles as she starts to pack them up, making small talk a bit as she does.

Steve just smiles, not understanding a word.

[golden_lyre]

The girl asks about how they met, and Orpheus says it was at a bar, and she asks if Steve speaks any French, and Orpheus says sadly not.

And then she tells Orpheus he's very lucky, and Orpheus agrees.

After she has the macarons packaged up, she offers them a sample of one of the chocolates.

"Thank you," Steve says to the girl as he takes one. "What's in it?"

"It has...eh...cinnamon?" she answers in halting English.

Orpheus slides an arm around Steve's waist as he takes one for himself, smiling at Steve and popping it in his mouth. "What do you think, lovely?"

"It's very good," Steve says to the girl.

Orpheus asks her if they can try another, and he takes the one she offers, holding it to Steve's lips.

Steve holds his gaze as he bites into the chocolate.

"Mm," he says softly. "Delicious."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus smiles. "Let me try," he says, and leans in to kiss him.

Steve chuckles and holds him by the lapel as they kiss.

Orpheus flicks his tongue lightly against Steve's lips as he pulls away.

"Mmm, yes," he says, smirking. "I think we'll have to get some of those."

He asks the girl for a box of assorted chocolates as well.

Steve tries not to look like he's picturing Orpheus naked right now.

The girl laughs as she puts together their order, and tosses in a small box with a few extras.

All the while, Orpheus does not at all try to hide the fact that he's picturing Steve naked.

"Thank you so much," Steve tells the girl as he takes Orpheus's hand again.

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus thanks her as well, taking the bag with a smile. She tells them to enjoy their visit.

Steve just beams, which needs no translation.

[golden_lyre]

"So," Orpheus says as they leave. "Unless you want to explore the rest of this little shopping center, I thought we could take our chocolate to the Tuileries Garden."

"The garden, please."

He hesitates. "Unless we should go back to your place."

[golden_lyre]

"I thought you were worried about not getting out of bed," Orpheus says, smiling.
