Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

"All right, then." He grins and picks up his clothes to head out.

Once they've paid for the clothes--Steve is pretty sure he sees a smirk or two--they head for Manhattan and Times Square. Steve has no problem taking the subway.

Nor does Orpheus for that matter. He rather likes it, a way to get to know the city like nothing else.

Steve keeps a protective hand on Orpheus's back as they move through the press of the crowd.

Orpheus happily stays close to him.

"This is the hard part," Steve says when they're on Broadway. "I know it can be done, I'm just not entirely sure how."

[golden_lyre]

"Getting tickets, you mean?"

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Right. Standby tickets, anyway. I know you can call a number and get tickets in advance, but just walking up to a box office and asking if they have any standbys--never done that."

He grins at Orpheus. "Where should we try our luck?"

[golden_lyre]

"Well, what would you like to see?" he asks, looking down the street at the theatres.

"I've been wanting to see 'The Lion King,' but I suspect you'd rather not do a musical."

[golden_lyre]

He wrinkles his nose. "If it's all right with you, yes."

"It's fine, honey. That's what I figured. " He puts an arm around Orpheus's shoulders. "What about 'Macbeth'?"

[golden_lyre]

"'Macbeth would be excellent," Orpheus says with a smile. Shakespeare was one of his mother's too, after all.

"The theater is up here." He leads Orpheus up Broadway to the theater advertising Macbeth.

Orpheus takes his hand as they walk.

Steve swings it a little and smiles.

There's a line in front of the theater. Steve joins it at the end. "If we don't get in, we can find something else to do tonight."

Orpheus leans against him a little.

"I'm sure there's no shortage."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"It's still the city that never sleeps." He leans his head against Orpheus's. "Some restaurants sound like they're a show on their own."

[golden_lyre]

"We'll find something," Orpheus agrees, smiling at how easy this feels.

Steve kisses his hair. "When I was a kid, sometimes we'd just walk around. People-watching, I guess they call it now."

[golden_lyre]

"We coudl do that, if you'd like," Orpheus says, turning to look at Steve.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Would you rather do that than see a play? I don't mind either way."

[golden_lyre]

"Neither do I, lovely. Let's see if we can get into the play, and if we can't, we can do that."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"All right by me." The line shuffles forward.

[golden_lyre]

"Where would you like to go if we end up walking?"
