Orpheus had dutifully eaten, if not as much as Steve wanted him to, at least enough to be able to say he was taking care of himself.

And after...well, upstairs had seemed like a good idea. Especially good considering this was the first time it was Orpheus who hadn't seen Steve in over a month rather than the other way around. He tugs Steve into the room with a smile, not willing to let go of him even for a second.

Orpheus murmurs encouragements, his hands sliding restlessly over Steve's skin.

Steve begins to gasp, to groan, as he body shakes and sweat rolls down his skin.

"That's it, lovely," Orpheus breathes, curling his fingers into Steve's hair. "Let go for me."

Steve's body arches and he throws back his head. An agonized expression crosses his face as he groans.

"Yes, yes," Orpheus groans, hands stroking down Steve's spine.

Steve's fingers clutch at the mattress as he gives a few more hard thrusts, and then his head drops to touch Orpheus's and his body slows to a stop.

"Beautiful," Orpheus murmurs, fingers still sliding idly over Steve's skin.

Steve lowers Orpheus's legs and lets himself rest on Orpheus's body. "Tell me if I'm too heavy," he murmurs.

"No," Orpheus murmurs. "You're perfect."

Steve chuckles raspily and kisses Orpheus's shoulder.

He says after a moment, "There's something I want to say...but I don't want to be the first one to say it. I just want you to know...I think it all the time."

Orpheus is quiet for a long moment, fingers tracing looping patterns on Steve's back.

"All right," he says, eventually.

Steve nods and slowly exhales, his whole body relaxing.

Orpheus kisses his hair lightly, humming a soft tune.

Steve smiles and makes a contented purr.

"I suppose I'm in for a walk of shame tomorrow," he murmurs.

[golden_lyre]

"Hm?" Orpheus murmurs.

"Oh, right. Suppose we should have stopped to get your things on the way."

Steve traces Orpheus's collarbones with his fingertips.

"I'd like to keep the other room."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus is silent for a long, long moment, frowning.

"Oh."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I've never really had space of my own," Steve says softly. "I've always shared with someone. My mother, Bucky, thirty chorus girls ... Even now we're in tents, and in barracks back in England.

"When you're not here, I'd just like something that's mine. And it's a really nice room. Bar even gave me a record player."

"No, yeah, that makes sense," Orpheus offers after another pause.

"I still want to be with you as much as possible when you're here."

Orpheus nods.

"Yeah, of course."

Steve kisses his shoulder and moves off Orpheus, keeping his arms around him.

Orpheus moves with him, lightly trailing his fingers over Steve's chest.

Steve strokes his arm and kisses his face.

After a moment, Orpheus says hesitantly, "I liked thinking of you here."
