[Milliways]: Breaking the dry spell

Orpheus is trying very hard not to just drag Steve up the stairs to their room. Despite having been waiting in the bar, he hasn't been spending much time here at all. It made him think far too much of Steve, and the drawings Steve had left for him didn't really help on that score.

He manages to restrain himself, though, as he unlocks the door.

Orpheus' hips jerk, and he thrusts into Steve a few more times before he comes as well, spilling into Steve.

Steve kisses Orpheus's hand.

Orpheus buries his face in Steve's neck, humming softly.

Steve curls into him like the little spoon.

Orpheus holds him close, nuzzling behind his ear.

"Yep," Steve says when his breath has slowed enough for him to speak. "Still good."

Orpheus smiles and kisses the corner of his jaw. "Glad I didn't disappoint."

Steve laughs and reaches back to stroke Orpheus's hair. "Never thought you would."

[golden_lyre]

"Still," Orpheus murmurs, kissing his ear. "I'm glad."

Steve closes his eyes and smiles, contented. His hand rakes slowly through Orpheus's hair.

As Orpheus holds Steve, something tight in his chest starts to loosen and dissolve, and he presses his face to Steve's shoulder in relief.

Oblivious, Steve pulls Orpheus's arms tighter around him.

Orpheus gladly obliges, holding Steve tightly to his chest, squeezing him.

Steve presses his head against Orpheus's shoulder.

"Can we promise each other something?" he says softly.

[golden_lyre]

"What do you want to promise?" Orpheus asks quietly.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"That we'll always talk about things," Steve says, his fingers still combing slowly through Orpheus's hair. "No secrets, no hiding things. We'll tell each other everything--stupid things, big things, small things. All of it."

Orpheus takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "What if there are things we...can't talk about?"

Steve turns to look at him, and holds Orpheus's face gently in his palm. "Except for that one area," he says. "But everything else?"

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus swallows and closes his eyes, leaning into Steve's hand. When he opens them, he nods. "All right."

Steve kisses his forehead.

It's disappointing, really, that even now Orpheus can't share that pain with him--or the joy that must have come before--but Steve supposes he's gotten enough miracles for the day.

Orpheus can't even really talk about it with Apollo. And he does mean to try with Steve, at least.

He closes his eyes again, tucking his head against Steve's shoulder.

Steve wraps himself around Orpheus this time.

Orpheus hums softly, pressing a kiss to Steve's throat.

Steve smiles and moves his fingers through the hair at the back of Orpheus's neck.

After a moment, Orpheus murmurs, "I prayed for you."
