Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

Steve wraps his arms and legs around Orpheus. "There. Locked up."

Orpheus smiles faintly. "Will you keep me like this always?"

"Yes," Steve says against his neck, sounding a bit like a toddler refusing to go to bed.

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus kisses his hair. "Then I may as well live here..."

Steve inhales, then says, "Okay. Live with me."

[golden_lyre]

"While you keep me here, just like this?"

"I guess I'll have to let you up sometimes," Steve says grudgingly as he loosens his hold, "to eat and stuff."

[golden_lyre]

"And stuff," Orpheus agrees, kissing Steve's temple.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

Steve looks into Orpheus's eyes, his hand in Orpheus's hair. "I mean it. Live with me. Come and go as you like, but try to be here sometimes when I come home? Because I would love to come home to you."

[golden_lyre]

"You won't be constantly worrying about me?" Orpheus asks, leaning his forehead against Steve's.

"Of course I will," Steve whispers.

[golden_lyre]

"I don't want you worrying all the time, but I do want to be with you."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I won't worry when the world is calm. I won't worry when we're together."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus considers this a moment, looking seriously at Steve.

"All right, then."


[ooc: Bedtime.]

"All right," Steve echoes, sounding stunned, and then hugs Orpheus and kisses him and laughs and looks terrified, pretty much all at once.

Orpheus laughs as well, faintly, almost strangled. It shouldn't feel like something so huge, he thinks, but it absolutely does.

"I won't even have to clear out closet space for you," Steve says. "I've got more space than I know what to do with. Or do you want to find another apartment? I bet SHIELD would help me find another apartment if we wanted one. Oh, god, SHIELD--I hope there's not some kind of security thing you have to pass. I don't know how we'd explain everything."

[golden_lyre]

"They regulate your love life?" Orpheus asks, incredulous, looking around the apartment to see how he'd feel about staying more permanently.

"Not that I know of," Steve says to assure him, and strokes his face. "They're kind of omnipresent, is all."

[golden_lyre]

"Hmmm..."

That will take some getting used to.

"Well...we could look for a new place if you wouldn't mind."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I don't mind. I don't really like this place. It's kind of... blank, don't you think?"

He looks around, too. "How do you feel about Brooklyn?"

[golden_lyre]

He smiles. "That's where you lived before, isn't it?"

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Yup. It's changed some but it still feels like home."

[golden_lyre]

"Let's look there, then."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

Steve kisses him, with a soft, "Thank you, honey."
