Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

The cashier here knows Steve too, and there's a bit of chat about the weather and their plans for the day as Steve is rung up.

Orpheus smiles, hand still resting on Steve's back, watching the interaction with pleased amusement.

"What?" says Steve as they start back to the apartment.

"I like that people know you," he says with a smile.

"I like that you know people."

"It's my neighborhood," Steve says. "We should know each other."

"I know, but most people don't anymore."

"We'll, that's part of what's wrong with the world." He glances at Orpheus. "And yes, I am a grumpy old man"

Orpheus laughs. "We can be grumpy old men together."


[ooc: Not feeling well tonight. May be slow.]

Steve kisses his cheek as they walk.

Orpheus smiles, leaning against him.

They are basically the least grumpy grumpy old men right now.

Any grumpiness Steve might feel is long gone.

He slides his hand down Orpheus's arm to hold his hand.

Orpheus laces their fingers together as they walk.

Steve beams at him, and holds onto his hand as they climb the stairs to his apartment.

Orpheus stops at the door and kisses him.

Steve presses their noses together a moment, and then unlocks the door.

Orpheus smiles and steps inside. "So The Hobbit?"

"I have the dee vee dee." He carries their snacks to the kitchen. "I didn't want to watch it alone in case the battle scenes were too much for me again."

Orpheus follows him into the kitchen, leaning against the counter. "He was one of my mother's, you know."

"Who was?" Steve says, unpacking the bag.

[golden_lyre]

"Tolkien," Orpheus says, lending a hand.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Really?" He smiles at the thought. "Because he was a storyteller?"

[golden_lyre]

"Mmhm. Epics," Orpheus agrees. "He told epic stories. Like Ovid or Homer."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I love that." He gives Orpheus a quick kiss on his way to the cupboard to get a bowl for the popcorn.

Orpheus smiles, really being quite useless in the kitchen for the most part. "I met him once."

"What was he like?"

He has to pause a moment to read the instructions on the box of popcorn. "Microwave for 90 seconds" is still a complicated concept.
