Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

"No, but it will give them a picture to consider."

Steve shakes his head. "People are so strange."

Orpheus laughs. "Yes, but that is hardly new."

[ooc: Bedtime.]

"One thing that never changes," Steve agrees.

He pushes his empty plate away a little.

Orpheus smiles at that and drags his last piece of ham slowly and deliberately through the syrup on his plate.

Steve watches his fork, and then looks up to meet Orpheus's gaze.

[ooc: at work until 5, possibly longer, and so will be using iPad and email. Will be slow.]

Orpheus keeps his eyes on Steve's, still smiling as he takes the last bite with considerable relish.

Steve leans his chin on his hand, enjoying the show.

He chews and swallows and laughs as he finishes. "Enjoying yourself, lovely?"

"Oh, yes, sweetheart. I am."

He reaches over and wipes a little syrup from the corner of Orpheus's mouth with a fingertip.

Grinning, Orpheus turns his face to lick Steve's finger clean.

"Orpheus," murmurs Steve, blushing.

[golden_lyre]

"Hm?" Orpheus asks, perfectly innocent.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I'm not embarrassed to kiss you in public, but more than that--well, let's not do more than that."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus sits back, an amused look on his face. "I will attempt to restrain myself."

Steve nods and puts a twenty on the table to pay for their breakfasts."Ready to go?"

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus nods, smiling. "Whenever you are."

"Ready." He slides out of the booth and holds out his hand to Orpheus.

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus slides out as well and takes Steve's hand.

"See you soon, now," says their waitress on their way out, and Steve says, "Absolutely," with a smile for Orpheus.

Orpheus offers her his thanks and a smile as they head out before turning his attention to Steve.

"So...movies?"

"There are a few shops where we can rent dee vee dees," Steve says, "but my apartment is set up to have some channels broadcast right to my TV."

Tone of wonder? Check.

"Anything you've been wanting to see?"

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"You know," Steve begins, then says slowly, "They made a movie of one of my favorite books from when I was a kid. I tried to see it in the theater but I couldn't handle the battle scenes and had to leave. I'd still like to see it. I think it'd be easier on a smaller screen. It's called The Hobbit."

Orpheus gives him a genuine smile. "All right," he says, pleased.
