Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

Steve squeezes his hand, and then goes to find his boots.

Orpheus watches him a moment with a smile and then finishes dressing himself.

When they're both ready, Steve leads him out of the building and down to the street. It's a pretty nice neighborhood--not too ritzy, not too gritty. Much more upscale than anywhere Steve lived in his own time, though.

Orpheus glances around them as they walk, taking in the area, imagining Steve around it.

"SHIELD found the place for me," Steve tells him. "It's not far from my old neighborhood."

"They take good care of you?" he asks, taking Steve's hand.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"Yes, they do. All they ask is that I be the public face of the Avengers and save the world once in awhile."

[golden_lyre]

"Are you okay with that?"

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I don't mind saving the world," Steve says with a half-smile.

"As for the other part, it's not so bad. And I understand why I'm the one. Tony's... Tony, Thor's not from around here, Clint and Natasha need to safeguard their identities and Bruce--putting Bruce in front of a camera would just be a bad idea.

"That leaves me. It's no worse than the USO tour, really."

"But you didn't particularly like the USO tour," Orpheus reminds him.

"True," Steve admits. "But they were necessary."

[golden_lyre]

"So you're..." he tilts his head, considering Steve, "okay with it."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I'm okay with it. We laid low for a while, and now we're letting people know who we are. We don't want them to be afraid of us."

[golden_lyre]

"Good." He smiles and kisses Steve briefly.

Steve kisses him back with a smile, and then nods his head up the block. "C'mon, we're almost there."

"Pancakes, right?" Orpheus says with a smile.

"Pancakes. A whole page of them." He tugs Orpheus by the hand down the block.

"Have a favorite?"

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"The ones with cardamon and lingonberry jam. You squeeze lemon juice over them instead of syrup." He pushes the door to the diner open.

"That sounds delicious." He grins and steps into the diner.

"They really are." He leads Orpheus to a booth and takes a seat, and pushes the pancake menu to Orpheus with a grin.

Orpheus grins back and looks over the menu, humming softly.

Steve leans his chin on his hands and watches him read.

"There's something I want to ask you about, with those interviews."

[golden_lyre]

"Hm? Which interviews?" Orpheus asks, glancing up at him.

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"The interviews that I give. The talk shows and things. They ask permission for things to talk about, and they always want to know if I'm dating anyone. Usually they think it's Natasha," he adds, blushing a little.
