Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

"The Greek place down the street delivers. Tony got us hooked on shawarma."

"That's more Arabic than Greek," Orpheus points out. "But we can do that as well."

"They call themselves 'Mediterranean,' so I guess it all fits. I just think of them as the Greek place. Great gyros."

"It's a very similar style of cooking," Orpheus agrees, kissing his nose.

Steve smiles, his eyes falling shut. "Delicious, too," he murmurs.

"Mmm, yes it is," Orpheus murmurs, kissing his forehead and his eyebrows.

Steve basks in the kisses, then murmurs, "I have an urge to eat tangerines."

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus laughs. "Why tangerines?"

Steve shrugs, grinning. "I want something sweet and tangy? Let's see if I have some." He kisses Orpheus and gets out of bed, staggering a little as if he's already been thoroughly shagged and needs to regain his land legs.

Orpheus rolls out of bed after him, moving to help him as he staggers. "Why don't you stay here, and I'll see if you have any?"

"Thanks," Steve says and flops back on the bed. "I may have, um, overdone it a bit. On the plus side, the midwest is still there."

Orpheus shakes his head, smiling faintly even as he looks Steve over in concern. "Well, that's something, I suppose," he says, taking one last look before heading to the kitchen.

"If my assistant's been in, there should be a lot of fresh stuff. She knows how hungry I get after an assignment."

Orpheus rummages around in the kitchen for a while, coming back with a bowl of tangerines and two bottles of water.

"You have an assistant?"

"Perfect," Steve says, reaching out for the bowl.

"Yeah. She's a SHIELD agent, technically. She was supposed to just help me acclimate to the twenty-first century but the job's kind of expanded."

[golden_lyre]

He hands over the bowl and sits on the edge of the bed, his hand resting on Steve's stomach. "Expanded how?"

"To being an assistant." Steve starts peeling a tangerine with his fingernails. "Mostly she keeps the fridge full, makes sure my I have a clean uniform when I need it and helps me answer my fan mail."

Orpheus smiles at that, pulling his feet up onto the bed. "Fan mail? What kind of fan mail do you get?"

"Marriage proposals." He gives the peeled tangerine to Orpheus. "Kids' drawings. People looking for advice on how to difficulties in their lives, or how I inspired them. I like those a lot."

[golden_lyre]

He smiles more, breaking the tangerine into segments and offering one to Steve.

"I bet you get a lot of those," he says softly, a fond smile on his lips.

Steve looks bashful, but nods as he eats the tangerine.

Orpheus laughs softly, stroking his fingers idly over Steve's stomach. "You're inspiring, lovely."

Steve traces over the back of Orpheus's hand. "I just try to do the right thing, that's all."

[golden_lyre]

"I think you manage more than most people do."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I really don't think it's that extraordinary," Steve says and starts peeling another tangerine. "But if Captain America can cause someone to do the right thing themselves, I'm all right with that."
