Orpheus wasn't entirely sure the ring would work as a way for him to get to Steve's world, but he was going to give it a shot. If it didn't work, he'd explain it to Steve the next time they were both in the bar, and they could figure something else out.

His guitar slung across his back, Orpheus turns the ring on his finger and opens the door, pleased to find himself in Steve's apartment when he steps through.

"Perfect," Steve says, reaching out for the bowl.

"Yeah. She's a SHIELD agent, technically. She was supposed to just help me acclimate to the twenty-first century but the job's kind of expanded."

He hands over the bowl and sits on the edge of the bed, his hand resting on Steve's stomach. "Expanded how?"

"To being an assistant." Steve starts peeling a tangerine with his fingernails. "Mostly she keeps the fridge full, makes sure my I have a clean uniform when I need it and helps me answer my fan mail."

Orpheus smiles at that, pulling his feet up onto the bed. "Fan mail? What kind of fan mail do you get?"

"Marriage proposals." He gives the peeled tangerine to Orpheus. "Kids' drawings. People looking for advice on how to difficulties in their lives, or how I inspired them. I like those a lot."

[golden_lyre]

He smiles more, breaking the tangerine into segments and offering one to Steve.

"I bet you get a lot of those," he says softly, a fond smile on his lips.

Steve looks bashful, but nods as he eats the tangerine.

Orpheus laughs softly, stroking his fingers idly over Steve's stomach. "You're inspiring, lovely."

Steve traces over the back of Orpheus's hand. "I just try to do the right thing, that's all."

[golden_lyre]

"I think you manage more than most people do."

[thekidfrombrooklyn]

"I really don't think it's that extraordinary," Steve says and starts peeling another tangerine. "But if Captain America can cause someone to do the right thing themselves, I'm all right with that."

[golden_lyre]

"Of course you don't. That's part of what makes it so extraordinary."

Steve concentrates on the tangerine. "I never know how to talk about this when you bring it up."

"You don't have to talk about it."

"Okay," Steve says with a grin and leans forward to kiss him.

Orpheus laughs and kisses him back.

"I knew you'd taste good with tangerines."

Smiling, Orpheus feeds him another segment. "You as well, my love."

Steve chews it, smiling, and then pulls Orpheus close for another kiss.

Orpheus curls an arm loosely around Steve's waist, leaning against him.

Steve feeds him tangerine segments between kisses.

[golden_lyre]

Orpheus returns the favor, humming softly against his lips.

"Mm, we're delicious," Steve murmurs, kissing Orpheus's neck.

He's definitely feeling more energetic.

"Yes, we are," Orpheus answers warmly, tilting his head for Steve.

Steve sucks on the skin below Orpheus's ear, hoping to feel him shiver.
